Lucid Nightmare OST

This soundtrack was created for the OST Composing Jam in 2021! It is a small segment of a larger story for an RPG Undertale inspired game called Lucid Nightmare, the story of a man who is living a normal life, when a catastrophe occurs, sending the man into a Coma. However, the Coma state is a dream, nightmarish version of reality. The protagonist must get through every construct of fear in his nightmare and destroy his Lucid Nightmare in order to regain conciseness in the real world.

This jam was a good practice to see how well I could capture the essence of the game, without making a full on game soundtrack. Creating an RPG story based game often requires tons of tracks, and hours of music, so to keep the scope small, I summed it up to these 5 tracks to tell the overarching story!

TRACKS:

#1 - Coma: The protagonist has just been in a car crash. The following track backs his decent into a Coma.

#2 - The Willow: After entering a vision of black, the protagonist slowly regains their vision, to find themselves in a magical Willow.

#3 - The Clown: As you wander the Willow, you realize something is off. There are missing segments of tree, plants and shrubs are melting. As you explore, the Willow slowly becomes more corrupt. You reach the end and all the trees are twisted. In a long corridor of trees, you see a horrifically creepy clown staring you down.

#4 - Coma (Reprise): Your vision returns to darkness, lingering with the face of the clown. You just came across your Lucid Nightmare, a figure who can represent any and all of your fears. The reprise of Coma plays, reminding you that this is not reality, and that you can overcome your fears in your nightmares.

#5 - Final Encounter: As you regain sight again, you are greeted by a shadowy figure. The figure morphs into the clown you had just encountered, as well as many other creepy figures. You must take on your Lucid Nightmare in order to defeat your fears, and regain consciousness in the real world.
